Boyfriend eats his girlfriend's $70 steak leftovers from their Valentine's Day dinner, smashes an onion on his head when she confronts him: 'I wish I hadn't paid $70 for dinner just for mine to be eaten.'

She bought her own steak on Valentine's Day, and her boyfriend ate it. She deserves so much better.

You shouldn't eat anyone's leftovers without permission; that's just common sense. We all know people who put their leftovers in Tupperware, let them sit for a week, and throw them away long after they go bad. It can be frustrating to stand idly by and watch someone else waste their food. Your only options are to let them do it or ask if you can have their leftovers before they go bad. The latter option isn't the worst idea in the world, especially if they're pretty type B and don't think twice about their leftovers. The only wrong answer is to eat their leftovers without asking first. Even if you don't think they will notice that they're missing, it's still stealing, and stealing is wrong. 

You would think that if anyone would respect your food, it would be your romantic partner. Sometimes boyfriends and girlfriends seem to morph into one person, having a "what's mine is yours" attitude. After all, it's pretty unromantic to be arguing about whose mustard is whose. If you're interrogating your girlfriend about whether she used your mustard, y'all probably should break up. But ingredients are totally different than leftovers, especially leftovers from a nice restaurant. If your girlfriend didn't finish her Valentine's Day steak dinner that she paid for, you shouldn't eat it under any circumstances. Even if you are starving and there's nothing else in the fridge.

Let him know that you aren't picking a fight or trying to make s "interesting" and you expect him to make it right. Also, consider raising the bar on what you want in a partner, because someone who gets defensive and then does a visualization exercise of smashing an onion to try to control their anger seems like an unsafe person.
